What Is StrapRail?

StrapRail® is a new portable web strap guardrail system that will prevent workers and objects from falling from elevated building levels.

A StrapRail® system consists of 3 tensioned orange straps that are anchored to the following structurally adequate elements of the building:

  • Columns (in steel or concrete)
  • Walls (poured concrete slab walls, or substantial steel walls)
  • Floors (poured concrete slab floors, or substantial steel decking)

Each orange strap is 4" wide and is tensioned using its own ratchet. The maximum possible tension a worker can apply is 2,500 lb. per strap. Prior to each installation a structural engineer must verify the adequacy of the supporting structure.

A set of 3 orange straps can be configured as a 45" tall guardrail or as a 94" tall screened barrier.

45" Tall Guardrail:

The 45" tall guardrail is installed with a clip-on Anti-Deflection Post every 10 feet, which stiffens the barrier considerably and prevents deflection of the top rail strap below 39".  The 45" tall guardrail can be overlaid with optional StrapRail Debris Net, which is secured every 5 feet to the toeboard and toprail straps with disposable nylon ties. The addition of netting reduces the risk of objects falling or blowing through the guardrail and injuring persons below.

94" Tall Screened Barrier:

The overhead height of a 94" fully screened barrier provides an enhanced level of fall protection. The barrier is installed with heavy duty StrapRail Fall Arrest Net, secured every 2 feet to the toeboard and overhead straps with stainless steel shackles. Anti-Deflection Posts are not required. The screened barrier keeps workers & objects inboard, up to a height of 94".
